Coco, Banjo and Mr Eliasson

Our Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys are among the friendliest and most popular animals at Noah’s Park Farm. Coco, Banjo and Mr EliasSon love meeting visitors and are known for their gentle nature, curious personalities and affectionate temperament.
Originating from the islands of Sardinia and Sicily in the Mediterranean, Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys were traditionally used for light farm work and carrying supplies through rugged countryside. Today, they are treasured around the world as companion animals due to their intelligence, calm disposition and strong bond with people.

Standing between 30 and 36 inches tall, these miniature donkeys may be small in size, but they have plenty of personality.

Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys were first introduced to Australia in the late twentieth century and remain a relatively uncommon breed. In their native environment, they graze on grasses and shrubs, while in human care, they enjoy a carefully balanced diet of hay, pasture and nutritional supplements.

Donkeys are also famous for their distinctive bray, which can carry for more than a kilometre, and for their amusing “flehmen response”, where they curl back their upper lip to investigate unfamiliar scents. With a lifespan of 20 to 25 years, these charming animals form strong friendships and quickly become beloved members of the farm family.
